Self-care is not selfish.

Self-care is not selfish.

Self-care can be achieved in a number of ways, including:

1. Plan out your day by making a "to-do" list. In other words, it's a list of all the accomplishments you've had throughout the course of the day, the week, or perhaps your entire life.

2. Whenever you're asked to participate in a "quick favour" or "gathering," politely decline. In its place, take advantage of some quiet time just for you.

3. Visit your local library. Explore the aisles at random and discover what grabs your attention. Maybe this is the beginning of a new pastime?

4. See if there are any local meetups that interest you. Take a deep breath and put on a happy face.

5. Get a massage to relax you. Your body and mind will benefit from any type of spa treatment, from a quick 15-minute neck and shoulder massage to an all-day indulgence.

6. Get out and explore your own city like a tourist. Check out that gallery, museum, or restaurant that you've had your eye on for a while now.

7. Set a positive tone for the day. Even a cup of tea and some quiet time in the sun might help you recharge and get your day back on track. Getting your day off to a good start is important.

8. Plan a get-together with the people who mean the most to you. Instead of waiting for an invitation, propose a movie, sporting event, or supper on your own.

9. Commit to writing only good comments on social media for an entire month. Acknowledge and congratulate your friends and coworkers for their hard work and successes.

10. Unfollow ten people on social media that make you feel horrible. Let them go if you're constantly comparing your life to someone else's, or if you don't enjoy their negativity.
