WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR COOKWARE
-
If it appears anything was damaged in shipment, contact Nutricraft’s excellent customer service department right away.
-
Hand wash all of your new cookware in hot, soapy water or run through the dishwasher before first use.
TIPS FOR ONGOING UPKEEP
-
Other metal cookware is porous and dark, making it difficult to tell whether or not it’s clean. With Nutricraft, you will always know your cookware is clean because stainless steel is non-porous which allows you to see any residue left on surfaces.
-
Cleaning your cookware while it’s still hot is a good way to prevent food from drying and adhering to the surface. If food does dry on, soak for a few minutes and then clean as usual.
-
To clean and polish your cookware, avoid products that contain chlorine bleach. Recommended brands include Americraft Stainless Steel Cleaner, Bar Keepers Friend®, Bon Ami®, Cameo®, Delete®, Kleen King®, Steel Bright®, Steel Glo®, Twinkle® and Zud®.
-
The chemicals and minerals in tap water can sometimes leave a white or blue film on cookware. Cameo, mixed with a little water to make a paste, and a damp towel will remove this film.
-
Medium to Low Heat: Your cookware is made from seven layers of heat-conducting metals. Medium to low heat is all you need to use.
-
IMPORTANT: If the lid ever locks down on your cookware, simply turn your burner to medium heat until the lid releases. Do not place a hot lid bottom-side down on a glass stove top. Always place the lid knob-side down.
HELPFUL COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
The diameter of the burner on your range top stove should be equal to the diameter of the cookware selected. When using a gas range, make sure the flame does not extend up the sides of the cookware. Choose the unit that accommodates the quantity of food you need to prepare. Do not overfill your cookware. To brown or sear meat: With the lid on, preheat the unit while EMPTY.
Basic Cooking Instructions
- Rinse food
- Place in unit (Until you are comfortable using the waterfree method, use 1-2 tablespoons of water per cup of food.)
- Place the lid on the unit
- Use medium to low heat (Do not leave your kitchen area until you are very comfortable using your Nutricraft Cookware with your stove.)
- After you see vapor escaping for 60 seconds, remove the unit from heat.
- DO NOT LIFT LID until the desired cooking time has elapsed
- When your food has finished cooking, it’s best to remove food and immediately fill the cookware with warm water.
- Let water stand while you enjoy your meal
- Clean as usual.
WATERLESS COOKING BASICS
Fry an Egg
To fry an egg, preheat skillet on medium-low and use a small amount of cooking spray or butter. Fry as usual.
Boiled eggs without water
Place a wet paper towel in the bottom of a small pan. Place up to 3 eggs on the paper towel and cover with lid. Cook on medium heat until vapor begins to escape, and then turn to low. Cook for 10 minutes on low. DO NOT lift cover. Pour a small amount of cold water over eggs, and remove the paper towel. With the cover on, shake the eggs to crack the shells. Peel and serve.
NOTE: No green rings on yoke!
Fried chicken without grease
Start with breasts or thighs and remove all the skin. Preheat pan on medium heat. Place chicken in pan, meaty side down. Do not overfill pan. Cook for a few minutes with the cover off to brown. Then cook meat for 10-12 minutes with cover on. Turn to brown and serve.
A burger, a steak, or a pork chop is great!
Preheat pan on medium to low heat. Cook for a few minutes with the cover off to brown. Replace cover and continue cooking about 5 minutes. (If you see steam, turn the heat down.) Turn to brown and serve.
Seafood
Preheat pan on medium heat. You may add a little butter or extra virgin olive oil for taste, but they are not necessary. Cook for a few minutes with the cover off to brown, if desired. Replace cover and continue cooking about 5 minutes (time depends on type and portion size).
Rice
Pour 1-3/4 cups of water and 1 cup of rice into pan—no need to bring water to a boil first. On medium heat, cover the pan. When vapor escapes, close the valve and remove the unit from heat. Let stand for 20 minutes. The rice will not overcook.
Beans and Pasta
You can cook beans and pasta just like you always have, but in 30% less time—on medium to low heat. NOTE: Beans and pasta have no moisture, so you must add water. Do not worry about soaking the beans all night; it is not necessary with your Nutricraft Cookware.
